The composition of the Governing Body of The Edward Richardson Primary School.  Our Instrument of Government, dated 13th March 2015, states that the Governing Body has 11 members broken down into the following groups:
Type of Governor Number of Governors of this type at the Edward Richardson Primary School Further information
Parent Governor 4 Parent Governors are elected from amongst the registered parents at the school.  They are appointed for a four year term which can be terminated earlier by resignation.  There is no obligation to resign as a Parent Governor if the governor in question ceases to be a registered parent during their four year term.  Elections are prompted by either the termination of a term of office or a resignation.  Members of staff who are also parents are only eligible to stand for such a position if they work for fewer than 500 hours per year.
Headteacher 1 The Headteacher is an 'ex-officio' governor.
Staff Governor The Staff Governor is elected from amongst the whole staff to represent them.  This is also for a four year term.  Members of staff standing for these positions will normally be expected to work for a minimum of 500 hours per year.
Local Authority Governor This governor is appointed by the Local Authority.  Such an appointee would not normally be a person who would be eligible to stand as either a Parent Governor or a Staff Governor.  There is no requirement for such an appointee to have any direct interest within the communities for which we are the designated school although preference may be given to such a candidate.  In selecting a Local Authority Governor the Governing Body will consider the skills audit of the full body and which candidate has skills which will develop this.
Co-opted 4 These governors are members of the local community who are invited to join the Governing Body to represent the wider community served by the school.  It is an opportunity for those with specific skills to contribute to the work of the school.  Generally such governors would be neither parents or staff in order that they may bring a different perspective to discussions.  Such an appointee would not normally be a person who would be eligible to stand as either a Parent Governor or a Staff Governor.  Although it is not a requirement a Co-opted Governor would normally be expected to have specific interest within the communities for which we are the designated school (either through residence or employment) or a nearby community.  In selecting a Co-opted Governor the Governing Body will consider the skills audit of the full body and which candidate has skills which will develop this.
The School Governance Constitution Regulations (2012) stipulate that a Governing Body must have a minimum of:
TWO parent governors
The headteacher (unless the headteacher resigns)
ONE staff governor
ONE local authority governor
The minimum number of governors IN TOTAL is seven.

Clerk to the Governors: Mrs
Caroline Yule

Governor Statement

As a parent of the school now and for the next 11 years, I am genuinely interested in supporting current developments and future ambitions of the school to positively benefit all pupils for years to come.

I believe that the school community should work in partnership with all stakeholders in ensuring excellence and equality for each and every pupil.  I passionately believe in learning and that schools have this value as their core purpose, where everyone child or adult, learns and realises their potential.  The last eleven years has seen me specialising in School Improvement and Development and so I not only bring my school based and leadership experience to the Governing Body, but also bring the ability to negotiate, challenge and provide honest, constructive feedback to improve and motivate. I have an understanding of leadership systems, Ofsted and policy, including financial policy and budgets.  I contribute objectively to group discussion and can analyse and interpret complex data.

Having lived in the area for 26 years, I have an understanding of the wider community in which the school serves and I seek to use this positively in order to fulfil the role of a Governor.

Governor Statement

As a parent of two daughters at the school I have become actively involved as both a parent governor, where I am the lead governor on finance and vice-chairman, and in the PSFA, where I currently hold the role of treasurer. This has given me a fantastic opportunity to be involved within a school that is such an important part of our children’s lives.

Within the role as a parent governor I hope I am able to give a parents perspective to the governors across the two Key Stages. I would like to think that I am approachable and am able to make valid points to any discussions and decisions when required.

Professionally I am a qualified accountant and currently work part-time for various local businesses as well as our family business at home. Over the past 15 years I have worked within a wide variety of businesses and am able to use these skills to assist in the financial side of running a school.

I am very passionate about the education of all children and hope I can support the parents and the staff at our school to continue to provide an excellent education for our children.

I volunteered to join the governing body as a Co-opted Governor because I and my children owe the school a lot.  Edward Richardson Primary School and its staff gave my two children a great start to their education and many life skills.  I am now a member of Hagworthingham Parish Council and I carry a broader, community based, perspective into the work of the governing body.  What I will promise is that throughout my term of office I will be fully committed, consistent, pro-active and reliable.

Governor Statement

I have had the privilege to be headteacher at the Edward Richardson Primary School since 1993 and to work to drive it forwards on many fronts.  The school has, and has had, fantastic pupils, brilliant staff and exceptionally supportive parents and carers.  Throughout my time at Tetford I have been a Governor of the school and I have appreciated the commitment given by so many others with whom I have worked on this body.  The dedication which is shown is not rewarded monetarily but in the knowledge of being part of a vibrant school serving a wonderful area.

The key to a successful school is community.  All members of our community are important and all matter.  The Governors are always interested to hear from anyone who can support us in our goal of making the school an ever better place to learn and to work.

Governor Statement

I am an Assistant Manager at Harrington Hall Farms Ltd (Harrington Hall). The estate is owned by the Price family and extends to Sutterby (where I live), Brinkhill, Hagworthingham and a parcel of land at Greetham.

We grow mainly combinable crops including wheat, barley, oil seed rape, and run some cattle on the grassland around the estate.  I am responsible for running the farm on a day to day basis.  I also have the key responsibility of appointed person for Health and Safety and, with the rest of the staff, have regular First aid training updates.  I also have ICT training for a variety of ‘Precision Farming’ software and hardware that is becoming prevalent in the efficient, cost effective, and environmentally responsible production of our food in the 21st century.

My children, when younger, were pupils at the school and I became a parent Governor early in their tenure at Tetford.  I have been involved with various projects in that time, often on a practical level as a Governor and also through the PSFA.  When the children had both moved on I was keen to continue and am now a Co-opted Governor.

Governor Statement

I have been a parent Governor at this school for a year now. I have a son currently in year 4, and 2 older daughters, one who left the school last year.  Since gaining a Diploma in Child Care at the age of 18, I have worked with young children, in many different environments. I have always engaged in school life both in my career as a Nanny and later as a parent.

I have no previous experience of being a Governor but I'm learning all the time and very much enjoy being involved in the continuing development of the school and the education it provides to its pupils.

Running my own business from home provides me with the flexibility and time to be readily involved with the school. I go into school weekly as a parent helper to listen to the children read, and take an active role on the P.S.F.A. organising and supporting events.

As well as being approachable, I am able to listen objectively to discussions and ask questions of decisions.  I am passionate about education and believe that good foundations secured in KS1 and KS2 can have a real impact on the future of all pupils.

Governor Statement

I joined the Edward Richardson Primary School in 2000 as a parent helper, and have had two children that progressed happily through the school. I was employed by the school as a one to one Teaching Assistant in 2003 and have since become Lead Teaching Assistant and Midday Controller.

With the help of the school I have taken a course in Childhood Counselling and am also one of the school's qualified First Aiders.

I have accompanied the school on many occasions for days out and of course the very popular school residential trip (which I will be accompanying for my thirteenth time in 2016). I believe that I bring positivity and stability to assist the children’s learning which is also enriched by the fantastic staff at school.

I am immensely proud to say I work at Edward Richardson Primary School and will continue to support and help the young lives there.

Governor Statement

I was extremely fortunate to be appointed by Andrew Hyde in 1995 and still know how lucky I am to work in such a fantastic community.   Throughout these years I have seen many changes: the building, the curriculum/ assessment, some of the workforce and obviously the families.  The stability of being in one place for so long has meant that we have all been able to work collaboratively on a daily basis and strive to continually improve our school for the benefit of all the children in our care.  We, ourselves, continue to improve our own skills and knowledge to keep up-to-date with current initiatives, all of which is then passed onto both children and parents alike in order that all the children continue to be excited and stimulated in their learning.

I have been a staff representative on the Governing Body once before and know first hand how hard all the Governors work and how much of their time they give to our school, attending meetings, visiting the school to see what happens on a daily basis and writing / reading reports and policies.  I hope the qualities I have, from both my previous employment in industry and now as Key Stage One Co-ordinator, will enhance and support the work already being done on the Governing Body.

I have been involved in education since 2001, qualifying as a teacher in 2003. I have worked across a range of educational disciplines, from emotional and behavioural to severe learning difficulties in a residential school.  I feel I offer a broad and balanced approach to governance, sharing these skills and ensuring as a school we set high and challenging targets that are rigorously checked. My speciality is essentially Special Educational Needs and I work closely with the SENCo on our school bids, discuss pupils and provide an advisory role in the changing educational world.

I am a parent of a child in Year 2.

When thinking about what to write in this personal statement, I decided to include the qualifications I have gained or indeed my career path prior to having my child. However, I felt that was rather irrelevant as the qualifications I feel are relevant are:

 1. Being a parent

b)  2. Having a strong desire to support an already successful learning establishment

Over the 2yrs since Rosemary started school, I have visited to hear the children read, accompanied school trips and within the last year joined the PSFA.

I currently work as a Clerk to the Governing Body at a local primary school, so therefore have a full perspective on the workings of a governing body and more importantly the role of a parent governor.

I aim to be a very visible and approachable governor.

Governor Statement

I am a recently retired medical doctor, having served a full career in the Royal Air Force in a wide variety of posts.  Following qualification, at Birmingham University, I trained in general practice in the RAF, following which I had 2 years in NHS general practice before returning to the RAF.  Whilst in a hospital post (equivalent to Director of Clinical services in the NHS) I was encouraged to train in occupational medicine and subsequently spent the remainder of my career as a consultant occupational physician, reaching the rank of Group Captain.

I wish to continue to contribute and believe that my experience, dealing with a wide variety of personnel, line managers, career managers, recruiting staff and their work places around the world would bring something positive to the school governing body.  As a parent in the Armed Forces I have seen a variety of schools both good and bad.  Whilst I have only lived in Tetford since April 2014 I have lived in Lincolnshire for considerably longer, visiting this area frequently.  I believe I can represent the community.  Given my retired status I am able to participate in activities during working hours.

Notes Attendance data takes into account an induction period of following appointment.  For the first calendar month following appointment attendance at a meeting will be noted but it is recognised that previous commitments, prior to appointment, may amke attendance impossible.
Attendance at meetings is critical and we would not wish a governor to start their term with an unavoidable absence recorded.  After one month all absences are recorded.
