|We worked on a formal cooperative project with the Calibre Academy (formerly the Mrs YGP School) during the three year period from 2009 to 2012. This involved working together on curriculum areas and finding more about the work undertaken in each school by its staff and pupils. Funding for a 'Global School Partnership' was received with the approval of DFID (Department for International Development) to be a fully developed project with central funding through the DFID / British Council. Following this achievement we were successful in gaining a 'Connecting Classrooms' grant for 2013.|
|In March 2007 Mr Hyde and Mrs Jackson made the long journey to Chennai to visit the Mrs YGP school. Mr Hyde and Mrs Lynam visited during the 2009/2010 school year and Mrs Jackson visited again with Miss Freshwater in February 2011. In 2012 Mr Hyde visited accompanied by Mrs Hyde and Mr Brown, the Chairman of Governors (at his own expense). Staff from the Calibre Academy have visited the Edward Richardson school in September 2009, 2010, 2011 and September 2012 - following fact finding visits prior to the beginning of our work together.|

In cooperation with the British Council we acted as a 'mentor' school to a school in India who were working towards the International School Award. This was a new initiative in India based on the British model. Early participants in India were given a school in Britain, which had already achieved the award, to act as mentor as they move towards their own accreditation. We were very proud and pleased to be asked to act in this role. We mentored the Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Senior Secondary School, a Middle School of 1662 pupils aged 3 to 13 in the city of Chennai (formerly Madras) in the state of Tamilnadu. This school submitted a final Action Plan in early Spring 2004 gained the British Council International School Award in Spring 2005.
We were visited in November 2004, and again in January 2006 by Madhuvanthi Arun, the International Coordinator from the school, who found out more about the International School Award and spent time talking with our children. In 2006 she founded a new Primary School (latterly called the Calibre Academy) and asked us to work in close partnership with her as her school developed. Since our Global School Project finished in August 2012 Madhuvanthi has visited us again to discuss ways to develop our work and we are hopeful that we will continue to be able to build upon our long term partnership. This resulted in us applying for, and being awarded, a Connecting Classrooms grant for 2013.
The schools continue to work in close cooperation sharing projects and information through the year every year.
