Induction of Pupils in Reception

The process of induction into Reception can be seen as beginning in the Autumn Term before the children enter the school.  This is the point at which parents fill in their online application for their choice of primary school on the Lincolnshire County Council School Admissions website.  Most will wish to visit school before completing their forms.  We positively encourage such visits which will always be conducted by the Headteacher and will include a full tour of the school.  Please allow a minimum of one hour to ninety minutes so that we can ensure that your visit is as thorough and informative as possible.  If you choose to put us as first choice it would help if you let us know this and inform us of the pre-school setting (if any) which your child will be attending prior to their admission to school.  This will allow us to plan which pre-school settings our Early Years staff will need to visit once places have been confirmed (though it will not, in itself, constitute an offer of a place.

Once places have been confirmed following the timetable publicised by the Local Authority we will ensure that every child receives a visit in their pre-school setting from the teacher who will be with them in September.  Personal knowledge of their teacher is crucial!  The children will all be offered a morning a week (though not all the same morning) during Term 5 to allow them to become more familiar with the school and the other adults who they will be with.  This culminates with one morning when they all come in at the same time.

A meeting is held during the Summer Term for the parents of the pupils who will be joining us.  You are part of the induction process too!
